Most people should remember The Banner or The Banner 2. A beautiful game situated in a frostbitten apocalypse. The Banner series had always been planned as a trilogy and now the end is nearly here. Literally ah. The Banner Saga 3 is due out on 26 July.
I’ll be honest, I haven’t finished the first two games. I’m just not that good at real-time strategy games. But watching the trailer for The Banner Saga 3 got me stoked to try out the game again. Interestingly, for a story that started out bleak in the first game, it’s amazing how much worse things had gotten. Betrayals, disasters and deaths are all swarming around. It looks like there’s enough running and its time to face everything.
Much like the previous two games, the story of The Banner Saga 3 will follow two groups of protagonists. One band will be defending Arberrang – the last surviving city. This is to buy time a another group headed directly into the darkness that has consumed most of the world. This time, players are looking to stop the apocalypse. What could possible go wrong hor?
Those who played through the previous games will find that their save data and choices would have carried over to have certain effects in the third game. Thankfully, even those without a save file will be able to say which choice you made at key branches.
The Banner Saga 3 is out on 26 July and you can purchase the trilogy on Steam or GOG.
