It’s that time of the year again. By that, I mean end of the year lar. Yep, it’s been an interesting year for gaming in 2018. From new games to remakes to old games, its now time to vote for the game of the year. The pinnacle of gaming in 2018.
Here are the nominees:
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
The 11th major installment in the Assassin’s Creed series, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is an action role-playing video game set in the year 431 BC. Released in October 2018, the game received generally favourable reviews on all platforms.
Featuring naval combat, a greater emphasis on role-playing elements and a world to hunt, stalk and kill, it is no wonder that Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is a nominee for Game of the Year.
Celeste
An indie platforming video gagme created by Matt Thorson and Noel Berry, Celeste makes the list of nominees for Game of the Year. Released in January, Celeste received universal acclaim, with praises to its story and the way it blended with the gameplay.
God of War
God of War is an action-adventure video game published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Featuring the return of Kratos, the lonesome God of War is now partnered with his son Atreus as they beat down mythical beings standing in their way of fulfilling their quest to scatter Kratos’ second wife’s ashes on the highest peak of the nine realms.
Featuring a stunning story, stellar gameplay and many quotable lines, it is no wonder that God of War is a nominee for Game of the Year.
Marvel’s Spider-Man
Insomniac Games deserves an award of their own for making a Spider-Man game that actually let’s you feel like you are the web-head himself as he swings through New York City. But the game outdid itself with smooth combat and a story-line that deviated from many of its ancestors. Delivering a stunning game that embodies the word “Spider-Man”, it is no wonder that the game is up as a nominee for Game of the Year.
Monster Hunter: World
Released back in January on PS4 and Xbox One and in August on PC, Monster Hunter: World is an action role-playing game published by Capcom. Adopting the series’ standard formulas while taking advantage of the processing power of modern consoles and computers, Monster Hunter: World delivered a stunning experience that blended gameplay with superb graphics, allowing players to bond through an unforgettable multiplayer experience. No doubt a worthy contender for Game of the Year hor?
Red Dead Redemption 2
The latest release among the nominees, Red Dead Redemption 2 comes gun blazing into the competition. A prequel to the 2010 game Red Dead Redemption, the game features a Wwewster-themed open world environment where players are free to roam, pillage, hunt and explore. Rated highly by reviewers due to its beauty, story and depth of the open world, it is no wonder that Red Dead Redemption 2 is able to contest as Game of the Year with the others on this list.
