There’s gonna be a Stranger Things mobile game that will be out for Android and iOS next year. The game will be a “location based” role play which is similar to Pokemon GO. This was revealed during a panel at the recent E3.
“We’re excited to be partnering with Next Games, out of Helsinki, Finland, who have crafted this RPG-puzzle hybrid game that has location-based technology. Meaning that no matter where you are in the world, you can fight and battle against the Upside Down, even in your backyard.’ – Chris Lee, director of Interactive Games at Netflix.
So far there is no gameplay footage yet but the developers are Next Games who are also the developers of Pokemon GO and The Walking Dead: Our World. That means the kind of gameplay we are looking at, will be using GPS and augmented reality (AR).
‘They’ve developed this amazing ‘80s retro Saturday morning cartoon art style that we’ve absolutely fallen in love with.” – Chris Lee, director of Interactive Games at Netflix.
If that is going to be the of 80’s retro cartoon style, then I am so in. I’ve always looked forward to Sunday morning cartoons when I was a kid. I did enjoy playing the Pokemon GO mobile game for a bit so this might just entice me more to play the game. Looking forward to it.
