Death Stranding 2: On the beach is a Sony exclusive game developed by Kojima Productions. It is the sequel to Death Stranding and its written, produced and directed by the man himself, Hideo Kojima.
After putting in more than 20 hours on DS2, I have to say the sequel is more fun and has more action then the first Death Stranding. There are quite a number of changes to the game. Walking is not a bitch anymore. Most missions, you can use vehicles to get to your destinations. your boots have more variety for different type of situations like stealth, combat and doesnt wear out as much. I’m loving the different types of weapons as well. My favs are the blood sword and combat gloves for melee. Assault and shotgun for the bad guys. Bola and grenade launchers for the BTs.
The most important thing to do for Death Stranding 2 is to plan your route. Especially for those really long ones. So, zoom in to your map, draw the route to whichever your prefer. If you like walking and climbing and avoiding encounters with enemies, by all means, get a good floating carrier( if the packages are heavy) and keep on keeping on! For me, I prefer drawing a route that I dont have to walk or climb. I prefer driving or riding the Tri cruiser or Off roader so I can collect parcels along the way. One of my fav thing to do in DS2, is going to enemy camps and neutralising the camps and take all their stuff. Then I would go to random outposts to help build roads so its a lot easier to travel!
Kojima really put thought into the casting. I have to say the array of actors, he chose were good. Some old ones return, like directors, Gullermo Del Toro and Nicholas Winding Refn(His wife and daughter are in it as well). This time round, you got more directors acting, from legendary George Miller of Mad Max fame and Mike Flanagan. Norman Reedus is back as Sam Porter. Fella has the same haircut 10 years ago. Elle Fanning and Shioli Kutsuna are new additions that are great. Troy Baker returns as Higgs and is even more bigger in this role. He pretty much steals the scenes. Lea Seydoux returns as Fragile. She is the only one, whom I find mediocre. From the first Death Stranding, I’ve always felt she was not great. Her expressionless face and monotonous voice was a real put off for me. Besides the cutscenes being a tad too long, they were absolutely beautiful and amazing. My fav episode to play was episode 5.
All in all, I found Death Stranding 2: On the beach to be surprisingly fun to play. It is a game that you can come back home after a tiring day of work, chill out and play it for a few hours to wind down. You dont have to grind out the game. It is best to appreciate it when you play when and how long you want, pause and continue where you left off the next day. Which is a rare thing in videogames. Enjoy Death Stranding 2 at your own pace.
