It seems that Overwatch‘s new Anniversary event doesn’t only bring new skins and emotes. The new Deathmatch map, Petra brings with it a new mystery as well.
After the map went live, players have started posting screenshots of laptops and data pads scattered around the map on Reddit. Being lead by r/OverwatchLore, players have begun to uncover the mysteries of Petra. Hardcore sia these people.
A message on one of these data pads connects the excavation site on Petra to similar excavations on other Overwatch maps.
The note reads:
Thank you for your continued funding of our Petra explorations, ongoing work in Ilios, and the new project in Thailand. Dr. Nachareon is eager to begin! With so many sites under threat, your contributions make it possible for us to continue this important work.
Illios is an Overwatch map placed in Greece while the “project in Thailand” presumably refers to the Ayutthaya map. Looks like got link between Illios, Ayutthaya and Petra sia. Maybe something related to the archeological dig sia.
The laptop reads:
Survey of the uppermost levels of the temple is almost complete, planning for excavation of the lower chambers. Our greatest finds so far are the statues of Hera, Athena, and Aphrodite, and we are hopeful they will be the first of many.
What these notes all mean is up for guesswork. Got nothing concrete to work on unless Blizzard become nice guy and gives up some clues. Some are guessing that the next hero to join Overwatch is Greek. Some others think that the next hero will be an archeologist. Or lagi better, people think got Indiana Jones subplot coming up.
Personally I think I need to grind more games to be able to afford all the new skins and emotes in the game.
