Esports is currently on the rise. Plus it’s every teenagers dream. Who doesn’t want to be able to play games for a living sia? Make no mistake, its a tough life and here are some of the Singaporean pro gamers who have made it through.
1. Benedict “hyhy” Lim
A part of Team Zenith back in 2012 and now currently a part of White Fries Gaming, Benedict “hyhy” Lim is a professional Dota 2 player. Filling the offlane role, hyhy was also one of the three players featured in the Valve produced documentary Free to Play, along with Dendi and Fear. Up there siol.
2. Aaron Koh (Hearthstone)
Aaron Koh is a Hearthstone player and is currently playing for Team Manasurge. Widely regarded as one of the top players on a global stage, Aaron has been producing consistent results in tournaments.
A full time Hearthstone player, Aaron represented Singapore at the World Cyber Arena 2015, beating several big name players to finish third place. Aaron has subsequently achieved several podium finishes in subsequent tournaments. Good job la Aaron.
3. Wong “NutZ” Jeng Yih
Wong “NutZ” Jeng Yih has been a variety of teams during his Dota 2 career. First joining Flash eSports, followed by MVP and Team Faceless. Together with the rest of Team Faceless, the team managed to clinch 4th place in The Manila Masters.
While on Team Faceless, NutZ typically filled the position five support role in his team. His signature heroes are Witch Doctor, Skywrath Mage and Vengeful Spirit. Not easy being the support player ah, but NutZ shows us how it’s done.
4. Kun Xian Ho
Known simply as Xian, the Singaporean professional fighting games player is perhaps one of the most well known Singaporean pro players out there. A part of Team Razer, Xian is most known for winning Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition 2012 at EVO 2013, beating Tokido in the Grand Finals to be the champion. Baik la.
Xian has been an active gamer since the age of seven with King of Fighters 2000 being his first competitive game. In Street Fighter, Xian has a known for picking and mastering characters that aren’t considered very strong. Cannot underestimate any characters hor. Xian also recently placed 2nd during Combo Breaker 2018.
5. Wong “Chawy” Xing Lei
Chawy is an interesting Singaporean pro player, having first started his career in Dota 2 before switching over to League of Legends. Originally on Team Scythe, he and the team managed to clinch 3rd place in The International 2011.
After winning the International, Chawy swapped over to LoL to try something new. At the moment, Chawy is currently a Mid laner for Hong Kong Attitude. His Taiwanese fans gave him the nickname “Big General” because of Taiwanese streamer Asiagodtone yelling “Big General! Please!” when he played with Chawy. Shiok nickname sia.
6. Marcus “Revenant” Tan Yin Sik

After, Starcraft II, Revenant has since played in games such as Heroes of the Storm, Overwatch and is to return to Starcraft II.]Marcus “Revenant” Tan Yin Sik’s has played Blizzard games for over eight years and skills no doubt lends him the credibility to be on this list.
During his Warcraft III career, Revenant achieved numerous achievements, among which he competed and achieved top 16 in the Warcraft III – World Cyber Games 2009 Global Finals.
While playing Starcraft II, Revenant represented Team Singapore in the SEA Nation Wars 2. After playing Starcraft II, Revenant swapped to playing Heroes of the Storm. Working together in team Relics, Revenant won first place in the Heroes of the Storm World Championship 2015 – SEA Finals.
After Heroes of the Storm, Revenant’s gaming career wasn’t over, swapping over to playing Overwatch. Revenant was a part of Team Singapore in the Overwatch World Cup 2016: Asia-Pacific Qualifier. Beating the teams from Malaysia and the Philippines, Revenant and Team Singapore advanced to the Overwatch World Cup 2016. Revenant had also founded Team Unestablished.
Currently, Revenant is marked to make a return to Starcraft 2, competing to represent Singapore in the Asian Games Qualifier.
7. Daryl Koh “iceiceice” Pei Xiang
Iceiceice is famous in the Dota 2 circle for being a troll. In-game and out of the game also troll one sia. Yet beneath the trolly persona is a man who is focused on building his Esports career. Currently playing for Mineski, iceiceice started his pro gaming career with StarCraft II before switching to Dota 2 in 2011.
Entering the Dota 2 scene with Scythe Gaming, the team clinched 3rd place in The International 2011. Since then iceiceice has been on notable teams such as Team DK, Vici Gaming and Ehome. Most recently iceiceice and Team Mineski won 1st place during the Dota 2 Asia Championship 2018. Cannot underestimate this man hor.
