Overwatch‘s Symmetra is undergoing a rework. Live on the PTR at the moment, the Symmetra rework changes much about the hero. It looks like Blizzard has given her a lot of utility with the changes implemented. Maybe too much utility. Somethings look downright broken sia.
Primary fire: Photon Projector
Instead of a tracking laser, Symmetra’s primary fire looks more like Zarya’s primary fire. It’s just a straight pointed beam that extends to 10 meters. It’s takes some effort to aim now, but it can do a lot more damage.
Alternate Fire
Previously, Symmetra’s alternate fire send a ball of energy that phases through enemies and does damage while doing so. Currently, the ball charges a lot faster but explodes when it comes in contact with most barriers and heroes.
Sentry Turrets
Sentry turrets can now fly. That’s right Pharas. Got nowhere to run liao. Before the rework, Symmetra’s turrets were limited by being only able to be set up near her body. With the rework, the turrets are projectiles, attaching to a wall when a turret comes into contact with one. The turrets damage has also been increased. To balance this, Symmetra can only deploy three turrets rather than six.
Teleporter
Okay, this one is insane and in my opinion, si bei broken and abusable. Previously, Symnetra’s teleporter was her ultimate. Now it’s an ability she can use once the cool down is off. You aim up to 25 meters away and you can spawn a teleport there. That’s the exit. Where you are standing at will spawn the entrance teleporter.
And not just that, the teleporter now allows more things to move through. Junkrat’s Rip-Tire, D.va’s bomb and Torbjorn’s turret are some of the things that can be teleported too. Siao sia, imagine dropping a molten core turret on the enemy’s head.
Ultimate ability
Symmetra’s ultimate ability has been completely reworked. Last time the ultimate gave a personal shield to every team member hor? Well, Blizzard decided to go bigger. Symmetra’s ultimate now spawns a huge barrier wall. And when I say huge, I mean it can cut across the entire map. Oh, and it has 5,000 health so good luck taking it down.
Symmetra’s rework is interesting I guess, but there are many people uploading videos of how her skills can be abused on YouTube. Blizzard isn’t known for making huge changes to the things they have released in the PTR as well. Only time can tell if this is rework is a good thing.
