Phew, looks like someone is under fire. Mati liao sia. Fortnite claims that one of their former quality assurance contractors, Thomas Hannah, leaked the true target of May’s map-changing meteor. Hannah allegedly gave hints to someone who then posted about it on Reddit. Epic Games claims they’ve suffered “actual losses” and “irreparable injury” as a result. Epic Games sues Hannah for full damages on 7 May.
According to Polygon, Hannah’s legal defense is that the leak that reached Reddit was something had had no knowledge of and minimal control over. He denies Epic’s claim that he internationally worked with someone to leak the information.
Although many Fortnite players were excitedly guessing as to where the meteor would land. The early reveal via Reddit that it would land on the Dusty Depot didn’t seem to blunt the enthusiasm of the crowd. Nobody even knew if the leak was accurate or not until the event actually happened.
