Do you remember back in 2004 when Facebook first launched? Four years later MouseHunt came out. I still remember spamming that hunting horn as soon as the cooldown is off and chasing after all them obscure mice? Good memories sia. Join us as we talk to Leo, admin of the Royal Mousehunter Force (RMF) to discover what is it like being a part of the RMF family 10 years after the launch of Mousehunt.
We’ve left the responses unedited and in their original form.
What are some of the common misconceptions that non-Mousehunt players tend to have of Mousehunt ah?
People tend to think that Mousehunt (Will refer to this as MH) is a game that requires a lot of your time, when in fact – you only need to check on it every 15 minutes if you wish. The longest you can go without checking MH and still get hourly automatic hunts is 24 hours.
What makes Mousehunt unique from other mobile/Facebook games?
MH isn’t an energy based game like most other mobile/FB games – such as mafia wars, country story, etc. There isn’t a need to wait for your energy to recharge, or to spend real money for energy. Makes the game less P2W (pay2win).
What was the Mousehunt community scene in Singapore like prior to the creation of the community?
Around 40-50% of the active players were from Singapore back in 2011 when the group was made. Everyone was fairly new to the game compared to players from other regions, i.e. UK, US, Canada.
Tell us about the beginning of the Royal Mousehunter Force, what led to the Royal Mousehunter Force being set up?
I wanted a group where people can have easy access to, because not many people were active on the MH forums. Being a game based on Facebook, I figured that a group based off the same platform will be able to reach a lot of people, and get players to come together.
What was the vision of the Royal Mousehunter Force when it was first established?
To provide a platform for fellow players to exchange info, guides, and information. Playing a game with others, is usually more fun than playing it alone. The group enables strangers to meet, and make friends over the game.
Other than being able to connect with a large number of other Singaporean Mousthunt players, got what other benefits are there to joiningRoyal Mousehunter Force sia?
The group isn’t made solely for Singaporeans. Players have the opportunity to meet others from all around the world that plays the game. Connecting with each other via the group provides an immense number of benefits, but if those aren’t counted, there’s practically no other benefit as the group is made for the game and the players. There is however, a side group thats open to the main group members only. The side group is mostly made up of SG/MY players that does IRL meets and outings often, to bond and make friends outside of the game. You can say that if you want to join the outings and be involved in activities outside of the game, then you have to join the main group in order to get an invitation.
What are some of the past community events held by Royal Mousehunter Force over the years?
2016 Player’s meet with the creator of MH – Dave Vanderburg. Other meets were conducted without any game developers, but were overseen by admins from not only RMF, but other groups including MHSG, MHMY, etc. Our latest meet was conducted on 14th July 2018 at SAFRA Punggol.
Mousehunt was first released back in 2008, 10 years since the game first came out leh, are there any fears that the game will die out? How has Royal Mousehunter Force helped in preventing Mousehunt from dying out?
Every game will eventually die, when content gets repetitive. MH is in fact already a dying game as seen by the shrinking playerbase over the years. People are generally moving on from browser games on to console and PC. That can’t be helped. The group helps to retain some players by making connections between players – It’s better to play with others than alone. We also wish for the players to keep their connections with each other, even after they quit the game.
How responsive are the developers of Mousehunt to the voices of the community? How big a role does Royal Mousehunter Force play in being a part of these voices?
On a scale of 10, I would say its around a 8/10. Every Friday, the developers will host a stream on YouTube live, showcasing/teasing new content, while receiving feedback from the players that tune in to the stream. RMF has admins that moderate the stream, and those admins help to moderate the chat and ensure that all feedback gets reviewed by the developers.
What is the best memory you have had being a part of the Royal Mousehunter Force?
Too many. As an admin, nothing pleases me more to see the group active, and people making friends with each other over the game. That’s what the admins set out to do.
Got anything that you want to say to the Royal Mousehunter Force?
gitgudm8, also we aren’t recruiting admins.
