The first ever Arena of Valor World Cup (AWC) began last 18 July 2018. AWC currently has the biggest prize pool in mobile esports history with $550,000 (S$749,127). Currently approaching the end of the event, the Arena of Valor World Cup finals will be held on 28 – 29 July 2018 at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood.
The top eight teams are comprised of the top two teams from each group: Thailand, North America, Chinese Taipei, Vietnam, Korea, Chinese Taipei (WC), China and Thailand (WC).
Team MSP, representing Singapore faced off against Thailand and North America in Group A. Thailand took the first seed of the group with a 2-0 but MSP did manage to take one game against Thailand. North America claimed second place with a 1-1 score after closing out MSP during Day 3.
On 28 July, it’s Korea versus Chinese Taipei and Thailand versus China in a best-of-5 series for the AWC semifinals. The losers from the matches will head to the losers bracket where they will have a chance to fight the victor of the winner’s bracket in the finals of the AWC. The finals itself will be a best-of-7 series to reveal who will be the first AWC Champion.
