Swee lah, the return of GameStart 2018 is around the corner now. It will be on 13th and 14th October at Suntec Convention Centre. By the way GameStart is on its 5th year, don’t play play ah! And it’s getting more awesome! Eliphant who are the organizers for #GameStart2018 has recently announced some new and exciting content for this year.
There will be game showcases and previews, tabletop gaming, esports, indie games, retro games and cosplay. Those into Esports can check out the competitions such as SEA Major (SEAM) 2018 and SEA Mobile Major (SEAMM) who plays host to the very first Shadowverse Contenders Cup for the Southeast Asia & Oceania region. And surprise! surprise! There will be a guest appearance by voice actress Elise Zhang, who is best known as the voice of Mei from Overwatch!
Something new this year will be the GameStart Masterclasses, where people from the industry will be conducting specialized masterclasses. The masterclasses will be held on 10th and 12th October. GameStart Workshops together with No Average Joe will focus on a range of gaming related topics and will be held during the convention.
Besides previewing new games, there will be a return of GameStart favorites like:

- GameStart Tabletop. There will be tons of new and old beautiful board games for you to check out.
- Doujin Market. Curated with Neo Tokyo Project, the youth arts and illustration fair will have 43 artist tables.
- 3rd Secretlab Grand Prix. There will be 2 sessions on the 13th and 14th October. The fella with the fastest timing on each day will win a Secretlab chair!
- GameStart Cosplay Runway. There will be cosplayers out there who will be bringing their A game on 14th October. If you want to be part of it, pre-registration is now open. Click here.
- Sanctuary. Fantasy themed place to chill out. Got makan and craft beers. (Very high chance, the jioplaygame gang will be there!)
GameStart visitors will also get to vote for their favourite indie game for the GameStart Indie Award. The winning game developer will win a sponsored trip to exhibit in Taipei Game Show 2019 in January 2019, as well as a high-end creative pen tablet sponsored by WACOM. So don’t forget to vote ah, must support local!
As mentioned earlier, SEA Major (SEAM) 2018 which is one of the largest fighting game tournaments in Asia, returns to GameStart 2018. This time round, get ready to see high-level tournament action. Top players from around the world will be here to fight for over USD 60,000 in prizes! And not just that ah,SEA Major will be hosting four major events! The Capcom Pro Tour Asia Finals, Tekken World Tour Master event, one of only 7 Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour SAGA events, and the only ArcRevo World Tour event announced for Southeast Asia. Power right?
Also there is the Shadowverse SEAO Contenders Cup. Top 4 players in the South East Asia Oceania (SEAO) Region will compete against each other to represent the region at the Shadowverse World Grand Prix in Japan!
