Last Thursday, Sony Interactive Entertainment Hong Kong Limited Singapore Branch (SIES) held a media conference and shared with us details on Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Tetris Effect and the highly anticipated Sony PlayStation Classic. Yay!
First up, I had the chance to try out the demo of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Don’t be fooled by the title. You won’t die twice. In fact, the title should be changed to Sekiro: Shadows Die 5000 Times. Cos that’s roughly the number of times I died. This game is pretty much the samurai version of Dark Souls. The gameplay was damn smooth and the graphics was breathtaking. I loved the brutal kill scenes especially the blood squirts. It was very satisfying. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will be released on 22nd March next year.

Next was Tetris Effect. Tetris or what old people used to call it, “Brick Game” can be played with or without the PlayStation VR. I didn’t try the VR mode but playing it normal was fun enough. I liked the whole psychedelic look, Tetris Effect has. The music also damn shiok and relaxing. It is a good game to play after a long day at work and you just wanna chill. Tetris Effect is available only on PlayStation 4.
Last but definitely not least, was finally trying out the Sony PlayStation Classic. This was definitely a nostalgic trip. The console looks damn cute and easy to bring around, plus it’s very simple to plug and play. I felt a little weird holding the controller initially. It just felt damn small lah. Not sure if they made it smaller or I have giant hands. Some more no analog sticks and its wired but it didn’t take long to get used to the controller. Looking at the memory card slot, I do wish it came with a tiny memory card as well. I wouldn’t even mind it as a prop. It would definitely bring me back to those days of blowing into the memory card and all forms of prayers will be ongoing, just so that it would work. Hahaha. Fun times indeed.
Going through all the classic games was definitely fun. I tried out Grand Theft Auto and Tekken 3. I got my ass handed to me when one of the guys used Nina. The bloody dogs in Resident Evil: Director’s Cut doesn’t look that scary now but I think all that will change when I play it alone at night. The moment the familiar “alert” sound came on for Metal Gear Solid, everyone was smiling. For the full list of games, you can click here.
