I … am not a smart man. So I didn’t expect to get very far while playing Tetris Effect. Wah, I was so wrong. I didn’t even get past stage 1. I had to consult a guide just to pass the stage. Clearly not the game for me.
That being said, Tetris Effect is still a pretty damn fun game to play. It’s a tile-matching puzzle game, like any other standard tetris game, yet there’s a few tweaks to it that keeps the game fresh for any new player.
Tetris Effect follows the standard formula. Tiles fall from the sky, you can rotate these tiles to fill up empty areas. A full horizontal line of tiles means the entire line will be cleared. Rinse and repeat until you achieved the stated number of lines cleared before the level is complete. For gamers who love an intellectual challenge, this is definitely the game for you.
The game comes with great sound and visuals. With a nice diffusion effect around the tiles to add a little more oompf to the graphics compared to the tetris games of old. The music is also pretty soothing, something that I could definitely listen to while placing tiles in order.
Tetris Effect is a fun game, a throwback to the original tetris game with interesting twists and additions that allow both old and new players to enjoy. Would recommend especially if you are like me, enjoying feeling not that smart while playing the game.
