You might still be in shock over the announcement about the mobile title Diablo: Immortal. But check this out. It seems that Diablo 4 is reportedly under development under the code name “Fenris”.
According to a lengthy report by Kotaku, sources have reported that Fenris is the current incarnation of Diablo 4. Blizzard’s Team 3 has been working on this version of the game since 2016. To top things off, things sounds optimistic, with “[Design director] Luis [Barriga] has a very strong vision for that game”.
Unfortunately, it seems that Fenris is still in early development. So don’t expect the game to be out until 2020 or later hor. Not to mention, many decision by the team would change over time.
A new focus of Fenris is to make Diablo more social. Adopting inspiration from Destiny. This is what a current Blizzard developer called “light MMO elements”. It sounds pretty cool considering how previous Diablo games have featured cities full of NPCs. Imagine exploring these cities with your friends and head off to dungeon? Pretty sweet sia.
Fenris is going to take some time before it hits and there’s barely any information out yet. It looks like we will have to wait and see how Diablo 4 will turn out.
