There was an event held recently by Eliphant and Singapore Games Guild, in collaboration with IMPIXEL, to present opportunities for Singaporean companies and developers to the Tokyo Game Show this year. At the session, there were speakers such as Takashi Tokita, Creative Producer, Director, Business Division XI of Square Enix who talked about the trends and outlook of Japanese games and Square Enix’s deployment toward Asia. Keirou Henmi, Managing Director of Pierrot who talked about the Japanese animation business. Shinri Endo, Deputy Group manager of Tokyo Game Show, Management Office Nikkei Business Publications, Inc. who introduced the Tokyo Game Show 2019. And Shawn Toh, CEO of Battlebrew Productions who talked about how it was like exhibiting as an inde at the Tokyo Game Show last year.
So far the details for Tokyo Game Show 2019 is that the venue will be Makuhari Messe and the dates are 12th to 15th September. First 2 days are for business and the other 2 days are open to public. The theme for this year is One World, Infinite Joy which is pretty cool. This year there will be some new additions to TGS to make a better experience. One addition which I am looking forward to is that there will be YouTube, Twitter and Twitch short video feeds in English and DouYu for Chinese gamers.
For esport, there will be competitions for games like Pro Elite Soccer(PES) 2019, Street Fighter V Arcade edition, Tekken 7, Call of Duty WWII, Dragon Ball Fighter Z, Puzzle and Dragons, Puyo Puyo and Fortnite.
Judging from the sessions by Shinri Endo on what to expect from the upcoming TGS, it sure does look like they have upped the ante and it is going to be spectacular this year. It really is a good opportunity for our local game devs or companies to showcase their works at this event.
