For the first time, gamescom asia (originally based in Singapore) and Thailand Game Show (Bangkok’s premier gaming expo) have joined forces to create a unified event called Gamescom Asia x Thailand Game Show. The major gaming event was held in Bangkok, Thailand at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) from 16th to 19th October.
The theme for the event was called “World of Gaming” which celebrates the global nature of gaming. And how it connects people, culture and business across borders.
Crowds packed the entertainment area for an explosive opening, and the show floor was alive with industry giant exhibitors like CAPCOM, Bandai-Namco, GCL and more.
Day 1 of Gamescom Asia x Thailand Game Show 2025, Dead Space and Callisto Protocol creator Glen Schofield did the opening of the event. He urged executives and investors to rebuild the gaming industry with a rallying line, “Get your guts back.”
The business are which was held on the 1st floor started the event with an opening ceremony by Lars Janssen and Felix Falk of game – the German Games Industry Association who spoke about strengthening ties between Europe and Asia through sharing innovation. And DEPA President Assist. Prof. Dr. Nuttapon Nimmanphatcharin talked about Thailand’s digital economy.
Thailand Game Show President Kittipong Prucksa-aroon closed the ceremony, talking about the rise of Thailand’s developer community and the power of global partnership.
There was also a fireside chat with Alexander Karpazis (Ubisoft Canada) and Gordon Van Dyke (Adorapixel, Sweden) who talked about a decade of Rainbow Six Siege.
Day 2 of gamescom asia x Thailand Game Show 2025, started with the legendary creator Glen Schofield receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award, for his impact and leadership in the gaming industry.
There was also a session on women being involved in AAA games held at the conference stage with Meghan Morgan Juinio (formerly Santa Monica Studio) and Fleur Marty (Gearbox).
Day 3 of gamescom asia x Thailand Game Show 2025, shone a spotlight on Southeast Asian creators, with regional studios showcasing distinctive storytelling and design through new titles that underscored the region’s growing creative force in the global industry.
Portable gaming stole the spotlight, with crowds gathering to test ROG Xbox Ally X and Ally, and jump into expansive game libraries through live demo zones and gameplay challenges.
The Cosplay Competition also took over the main stage, with spectacular performances and standout craftsmanship. Top prizes went to:
• Best Team: AMAZING CAKRA as Djeeta & Lucillius (Granblue Fantasy)
• Best All Star: Theerawat Phanu as Harry Queen (Batman: Arkham Knight)
• Fan Favourite: Ronald Bert Sta Ana as Scorpion (Mortal Kombat 1)
After four days, the number of attendees for the event came up to 206,159. This truly marks as a historic event for both Gamescome Asia and Thailand Game Show. It is a great start for Southeast Asia newest gaming powerhouse.
At the closing ceremony, Thailand’s Minister of Commerce Mrs. Supajee Suthamphan delivered remarks that captured the spirit of the event.
“I saw many impressive images at the event, including the fathers and children who worked together on the game — a picture that truly reflects the power of cross-generational creativity,” she said. Speaking on Thailand’s growing role as a creative hub for gaming in Asia, she said, “What I particularly admire is that many game developers, though not Thai, have used the beauty and uniqueness of Thailand… This is the true ‘soft power’ that allows players worldwide to experience and understand Thailand through their splendid gaming experiences.”
On the international front, Managing Director & VP Asia-Pacific at Koelnmesse Mathias Kuepper echoed the sentiment.
“There was so much energy. There was so much creativity here on the show… from fans, creators, publishers, investors, developers. So they’re all coming together to really celebrate what makes gaming special. We are onto something really, really great here… we’re here to stay, to grow this event together with all our partners,” he said.
Gamescom Asia x Thailand Game Show has come to an end. It was a fun filled event and we are definitely looking forward to Gamescom Asia x Thailand Game show 2026 which will be held on 29th october to 1st November!
