Microsoft began its E3 2018 press conference with something all Halo fans would love. The company teased Halo Infinite, the next Halo game in the series. According to Microsoft, players will have more playtime with Master Chief in this game. That’s right la Microsoft, we don’t need anyone else. Just give us Spartan 117.
Xbox chief Phil Spencer said that “We will join Master Chief on his greatest adventure yet to save humanity” following the trailer. The trailer itself didn’t reveal much about the game other than glorious looking graphics. So further details looks like it has to wait.
The trailer revealed that Halo Infinite is powered by a new game engine created by Halo developer 343 Industries. Called the Slipspace Engine, a reference to the term within the Halo series, all scenes within the trailer were running on the engine.
343 also wrote;
Halo Infinite will feature [a] new art style that draws significant inspiration from the most iconic and historic parts of the Halo franchise and your feedback, all while modernizing and taking advantage of the full power of the Xbox One family. The new Master Chief helmet directly showcases our new art style.
The art indeed looks pretty good. I’m not a big Microsoft fan but I grew up on Halo, racing down the final levels of the first game in a Warthog race. More Master Chief is always welcome in my books. Shiok ah!
Halo Infinite will be coming out on Xbox One and Windows 10 exclusively.
