A few weeks ago, I was invited to attend an event to try our the Game of Thrones Single Malt Scotch Whisky Collection. This event was held at The Monarchy which is at 56 Tras Street. I am a big fan of Game of Thrones. I have read all the books (faster release Winds of Winter lah, George!) and a big fan of the TV series. I also love to drink and single malt Scotch Whiskies are one of my favourite alcohol. I am no whiskey connoisseur, in fact I am not good at “connoisseuring” (no such word) at all. But I sure do love a good drink!
Since the last and final season of Game of Thrones is coming near, DIAGEO and HBO released a limited-edition collection of Single Malt Scotch Whiskies to commemorate the show. There are 8 different Scotch whiskies and each is paired with an iconic House of Westeros. So you have House Stark, Tully, Targaryean, Lannister, Greyjoy, Tyrell, Baratheon and the Night’s Watch. This limited edition collection is only available at 1855 The Bottle Shop stores OR online at AsherBWS in Singapore. The Suggested Retail Price is at SGD1188 for the entire set (includes GST).
The event was very interesting and fun. We got the chance to taste all 8 Scotch Whiskies and there was a Scottish dude dressed in a kilt explaining to us, how each whiskey was made and about the distillery as well. My favourite among them is definitely the House Baratheon, which is a 12 year old Royal Lochnagar Scotch Whiskey. If Robert Baratheon had been drinking that, he probably would have been still alive. Well, perhaps a little longer, before Cersei comes up with another scheme to end him. Haha!
I loved the theme of the event as well. Everything was in GOT. You had a photo wall with some classic props and lines from GOT characters. We had a whiskey sour which was mixed with the Johnnie Walker, a limited-edition blend called The White Walker. When we went into the room for the tasting, I had the Red Wedding vibe. Someone was going to die. No lah, haha. After the brilliant tasting, we were each given a small token of our fav whiskey which was so cool of them. The meal or should I say feast provided was pretty awesome as well.
I know what I will be doing on April 14th. Having a glass of a 12 year old Royal Lochnagar of House Baratheon and watching episode 1 of the final season of Game of Thrones. For the Watch!
