Elden Ring Closed Network Test review by Zeon.
I’ve played a rough 10 hours of gameplay in this new Stress Test, unfortunately we couldn’t capture gameplay, so here’s a written review instead.
There are 5 classes for you to choose from and each varies a lot in terms of playing style, be it magic, quality build or even just pure heavy attack. You can slowly find what class suits you better and move on to the tutorial dungeon where you learn the basics.
After completing the tutorial dungeon, I learned a few new things.
- Verticality is back and heavily taken from their previous game “Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice”
- Blocking grants a new mechanic that makes you “break posture” (also from Sekiro) and counter-attack that block with a deadly attack, mostly will instant one shot small enemies.
After exiting the dungeon, you are greeted with a HUUUUUUUGE insanely beautiful scenery of the world. You are the Tarninished, exploring the first area is the Limgrave.
You also have a new buddy with you (besides the Spirit summoning) and it’s a horse called Torrent. Not only you can have a horseride battle, you can also easily kill small enemies on it. But beware if you’re caught off-guard and you fall on your knees. It takes a good 5 seconds of animation to stand up on your feet. By then if there’s any enemies around you, you’re definitely dead.
Weapon Arts are back! Heavily taken from their successful title ‘Dark Souls III”, weapon arts grants a buttload of different attacks and some are waaaaaay too powerful!
Flask of Wondrous Physick is a new and super substantial item in this new game. It does not only give you buffs, but also customisation buffs accordingly to what Tear item you find in your journey.
The network test features a HUUUUGE content, I’d say one of the biggest yet from From Software. There’s a good handful of dungeons that rewards you with not only Ashes of War but also a few nice summons for you to use.
The open world itself also have it’s own quirk, a huge dragon boss and also a chonky guard on a royal-isque shiny golden armor with it’s steed.
Overall it’s really a superbly well crafted Network test that also let you test out their online PVP too.
Elden Ring launch on 25th February 2022 on Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One X, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X and also the PC.
