Touhou DANMAKU KAGURA Phantasia Lost, the rhythm-based bullet hell developed by Unknown X based in the community-driven Touhou universe beloved by millions of fans, launches onto PC via Steam today.
Ignited by a crowdfunding campaign which achieved its 15 million yen goal within 30 minutes and acquired 1,288% funding with 193 million Yen raised, Phantasia Lost plays host to legendary collaborations. Iconic legendary composer Toby Fox and Touhou creator ZUN teamed up for the free DLC track “U.N. Owen Was Hero?”, and Undertale artist Temmie Chang crafted the cover art.
Tap to the tunes of 68 Touhou tracks (102 total songs with added DLC) on a quest to rebuild Phantasia to its former glory in two distinct gameplay modes. Opt for a traditional falling-notes rhythm game experience in Kagura mode, aiming for high scores via perfectly timed key-presses.
For a rhythm-action twist, try out Danmaku mode, where music merges with bullet hell mayhem. Dodge incoming attacks, collect falling items, and return fire in sync with musical selections against bosses that fire on-beat bullets in every direction.
The once-bustling Phantasia has been mysteriously reduced to rubble. As Reimu Hakurei, search for the cause behind the cataclysm by gathering lost Fragments of Memories. Piece together the story of Phantasia’s fall and rebuild wastelands to their former glory. Keep an eye out for Marisa while venturing through a brand new storyline distinct from the mobile release, featuring added battles against new heroine bosses.
“It’s been a labor of love to bring Touhou Danmaku Kagura Phantasia Lost to PC, and an absolute blast adding both new content and new songs to the playlist,” said JYUNYA, leader offounder, Unknown X. “Many thanks to all of the collaborators, supporters, and crowdfunders that made this special release possible.”
