The third Project Borealis update is out. The team behind Project Borealis, a fan-made interpretation of the Half-Life 2: Episode 3 story, has released a new update video. In it, the team covered the game developments which they have made so far. Song la, one step closer to Half-life 3.
Gameplay
The team covered the animation of both Gordon and his weapons. They confirmed that Gordon now has access to several of his weapons. The animation of these weapons are close to the animation of the original Half-Life 2. The weapon recoil look damn swee. Can’t wait to shoot some headcrabs sia.
Gordon’s movement animations have also been completed. The team has been able to replicate Gordon’s movement animation with the original animation. Check out the full video of the weapon and movement animations below.
Environmental
The team also displayed a singular room of a decaying warehouse. Built on Unreal Engine 4, the warehouse looks amazing. If this is a sample of what is to come, things are definitely looking up for Project Borealis. Who needs to wait for Valve? Project Borealis good enough liao.
Concept Art
The team described having a wide range of illustrations to guide the look of the game. They emphasized that they wanted to make sure that while certain designs were updated, they stayed true to the original. Good job la Project Borealis. Maintaining the flavour of Half-Life 2.
A Houndeye. The thing of nightmares.
Music
The music team has been building on the original track of Half-Life. They were aiming to create familiar yet fresh tunes for the game. The quick beats combined together with the use of synthesizer gave the music a Half-life feel. Can feel the chill as I listen to the music sia.
