Steady lah, Shadow of War developer, Monolith has announced that they will be releasing a number of free updates to the game this year to make the game better in response to player feedback. One of the main one is the removal of micro transactions. Monolith said that they will be removing all the Gold and War chests from the game store.
Monolith said,
“Being able to outright purchase Gold and gain Orc followers through war chests “reduces the immersions in the world and takes away from the challenge of building your personal army and your fortress. The core promise of the Nemesis System is the ability to build relationships with your personal allies and enemies in a dynamic open world. While purchasing Orcs in the Market is more immediate and provides additional player options, we have come to realize that providing this choice risked undermining the heart of our game, the Nemesis System. It allows you to miss out on the awesome player stories you would have otherwise created, and it compromises those same stories even if you don’t buy anything.”
Such words really brings a tear of joy to every gamer’s eyes lah. Power lah Monolith! Come, I clap for you! Currently you can buy Gold in packages of 500 (SGD6.50), 1,050 (SGD12.90), 2,200 (SGD27.90), 5750 (SGD67.90) and 12000 (SGD136.90). Well from 8th May onward, you will no longer be able to buy any Gold liao. And by 17th July, the Gold, War chests, and the Market itself will be permanently removed by Monolith. If you still have Gold after 17th July, it will be converted to Gold Loot Chests.
Besides the micro transactions part, Monolith will also be making some changes on the game’s campaign. A lot of people complained about the part in the campaign where they were defending their fortresses from Sauron was damn boring and not fun at all. Monolith is pledging to improve the experience with “new narrative elements,” while it will be streamlined “for a more cohesive experience.” There will also be more gameplay improvements in the near future.
