Ok, WoW fans take note, the seventh expansion of World of Warcraft, Battle of Azeroth will be released on 14th August this year. So it’s time to declare your allegiance. For the Horde! or For the Alliance! (Horde lah for me)
Here are some key features for the Battle of Azeroth expansion.
- Players level cap will be increased to 120 in the zones of Kul Tiras and Zandalar.
- There will be six new sub races. Three for each. For the Horde, there are Highmountain Tauren, Zandalari Trolls and Nightborne Elves. For the Alliance, there are Lightforged Draenei, Void Elves and Dark Iron Dwarfs.
- The Island Expedition. Machiam like the scenarios in the previous expansion “Mists of Pandaria”. You go in with a team of three (no need to worry about team composition. 3 Healer also can complete.) The focus here is for players to explore uncharted places and collect Azerites (which is the crystallised blood of Azeroth) . There will be 6 distinct islands for you to explore. When you explore a location, the mobs or events will be different and you will have different encounters all the time. When you are exploring the island, other players or AI from the opposing faction will be exploring too. And you won’t know if the enemy is a player or AI. The AI are Advanced NPC Champions and they are damn good. They have different variations. They can be aggressive (KILL, KILL, KILL) or be defensive (SIAM all the way) while collecting Azerites. There will be a bar for both sides and whoever reaches 6000 Azerites wins.
- Warfront is a 20-man, PvE, large-scale co-op mode which is made to be like a large-scale war on the homefront, as each factions fight for control of a location critical to their war efforts. Currently there is only 1 warfront (which is Arathi) available and it will be controlled by either faction at one time. If let’s say Arathi kenna controlled by the Horde, then the Alliance will have the quest to donate resources for the war effort. Once the bar fills up, then can the Alliance start the warfront and take control of Arathi, and vice versa. Since this is PvE, any faction that owns it, won’t be able to defend the location. Warfront is pretty much inspired by real-time strategy (RTS) from Warcraft 3. You play the role of a lieutenant leading the charge on the group for a massive battle. You need to create outposts, get resources, set up supply lines and train troops. The difference is you won’t be commanding from a top down view (Warcraft 3), instead you will be chionging in the front line. Warfront will be region based( like US, UK, etc.) instead of server based.
- PvP. Servers will no longer have PvP or PvE tagged with them. They will only have role playing or non-role playing modes. You will be able to opt for it in the War mode. Once you enable the War mode at your base, you will be transferred to a world where other players have done so as well.
