A few weeks ago, I wrote about how soon enough, Steam games would be available on our phones. Like shiok only ah, better than any handheld console. But, for now, it looks like only specific phones will be able to do so. Last week, Steam Link came out on Android but there was no iOS version. The Valve app was blocked by Apple. Wah piang eh Apple.
According to a release from Valve to Kotaku, Apple had initially approved the Steam Link app earlier this month. Then the company had later un-approved it. Suddenly change mind only sia.
Valve:
On Weds, May 9th, Valve released news of the app. The following morning, Apple revoked its approval citing business conflicts with app guidelines that had allegedly not been realized by the original review team.
Valve had appealed the decision, claiming that the Steam Link app is a LAN-based remote desktop app. Plenty of which you can find in the App Store. However, Apple has turned down the appeal. Damn suay for iPhone users. Looks like they have to wait to be able to play their Steam games.
Valve added that “we hope Apple will reconsider in the future”.
