Pokémon Quest was recently revealed by Nintendo as part of a larger reveal of Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee. The game is now available for Nintendo Switch via the eShop. Most importantly, Pokémon Quest is free. Huat ah, my Singaporean soul is singing.
The game has a unique look, featuring block-shaped Pokémon. Think Minecraft-style. To match this look, Pokémon Quest will take place on Tumblecube Island. Can’t have random block-shaped Pokémon turning up on Kanto mah.
The game will focus on the original line up of Kanto Pokémon. That means that players will only be able to catch the original 151 Pokémon until further updates are made. Hopefully will expand like Pokémon Go hor?
On the island, players will have a team of three Pokémon, different from the usual six. These Pokémon will roam the map on their own. However, players will be able to control the skills used by their Pokémon. Time to spam button like mad.
As players defeat Pokémon around the island, they can collect power stones and various items. These items will allow players to tailor their squad’s stats as they please.
In addition to tailoring their Pokémon stats, players are also able to customize a base camp. Not only can players set up bait to collect new Pokémon, they can decorate the base to make it look fashionable. Got a boring camp also no point mah, must make it look swee swee then good.
Although Pokémon Quest is currently out for the Nintendo Switch, mobile users can expect to be able to play the game in late June as well. The mobile version will launch via the App Store and Google Play.
