Thailand will take centre stage at gamescom 2025, the world’s largest gaming event, as the Official Partner Country, a powerful move that underscores the nation’s commitment to becoming a regional and global gaming powerhouse.
This strategic partnership between the organisers of gamescom and the Thai government not only highlights Thailand’s growing influence in the global gaming industry but also sets the stage for the inaugural gamescom asia x Thailand Game Show, taking place in Bangkok this 16-19 October 2025. As the only Asian edition of gamescom, the Bangkok event will benefit from the global spotlight created by Thailand’s presence in Cologne.
As part of the partnership, Thailand will host a dedicated country pavilion at gamescom 2025, showcasing its thriving game development community, world-class creative talent, and fast-growing digital economy. The country’s presence in Cologne aims to attract international publishers, studios, investors, and media ahead of gamescom asia’s debut on Thai soil with gamescom asia x Thailand Game Show.
gamescom asia x Thailand Game Show will feature both an entertainment area (B2C) and a business area (B2B) exhibition with a combined event area of 30,000 sqm, a 40 per cent increase in space compared to the previous editions. The entertainment area will feature industry heavyweights, gaming hardware, non-endemic brands as well as indie developers. The show will bring back fan favourites like esports, streamer challenges and the cosplay competition. Within the business area, the industry conference and its supporting programs, invest circle and the pitch competition will take centre stage, whilst country pavilions and indie developers will showcase their latest games to publishers and investors.
Thailand is the 19th largest gaming market globally, among the top 10 gaming markets in Asia, and among the 3 fastest growing in Asia. It is also the 2nd largest and fastest growing gaming market in Southeast Asia by revenue with a value of approximately USD 1.3 Billion. With around 32 million gamers representing 47 per cent of Thailand’s population, gaming is an integral part of its lifestyle. A flourishing indie scene has led to innovative game designs and increased diversity in gaming content too with a growing number of independent game developers supported by Thailand’s government initiatives and incubators.
