Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok review

Granblue Fantasy: Relink emerged from a long, tumultuous development cycle, surprising fans when the developers successfully overcame immense hurdles. Released in 2024, the game wowed audiences with its polish and extensive endgame—even captivating players with zero knowledge of its heavily praised mobile counterpart. After spending countless hours in Relink, players were left begging for more from this stellar base game.

Now in 2026, two years later, Cygames has answered the call with Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok. Packaged as a massive expansion, Endless Ragnarok feels less like simple DLC and more like a whole new experience. It is fine-tuned with community feedback and quality-of-life improvements that aid newcomers while streamlining every potential hurdle into a seamless gameplay loop. By expanding on the core endgame mechanics for players who craved more content, Cygames has once again delivered in every metric.

Taking place after the events of the base game, Endless Ragnarok begins when players are alerted to a mysterious disturbance around Folca. As players progress through a generous amount of new story content, they systematically unlock new features, game modes, and characters. On top of the narrative additions, the expansion introduces even harder quests alongside six new playable characters.

Beatrix and Eustace join the party early on. Every character brings their own charm and adaptability, offering something for every playstyle. Later, former antagonists Gallanza and Maglielle join the roster, expanding it even further. Having clashed swords with Maglielle in the base game, I personally love how she plays—I’m thrilled players can finally wield her shiny arsenal of endless blades to cause some chaos. Finally, Fediel and Fraux round out the new additions. They are fantastic additions to Relink’s already vast roster, giving players more strategic options when taking on tough new boss fights.

Speaking of fights, The Conflux fits right into the game as a shifting locale that changes every time players restart the mode. It is Granblue Fantasy’s take on the roguelike genre that fans have been hungry for. Unlocking new cycles through quest completions brings tough challenges, but overcoming them yields heavy rewards. Players can boost their passive and active skills even further using the new Resonance system built specifically for The Conflux.

Lyria joins the fight at last! She doubles as an active party member, injecting new life into combat through the new Summons mechanic. Players can equip up to 50 different familiar monsters to aid them in battle. Summons can also be cast during a Primal Burst when all characters execute their Skybound Arts simultaneously. These summons deal massive damage and can turn the tide of any difficult fight. Rather than acting as simple passive buffs, summons give players direct control, adding a whole new layer of combat freedom. However, players shouldn’t get too complacent—filling the summon gauge requires strategic combat.

For returning players who have already maxed out characters at level 100, a new progression system called Master Traits pushes character capabilities even further into high-tier mastery.
Finally, the expansion introduces a slate of major quality-of-life improvements, including full crossplay across all platforms. Now, players can enjoy an endless journey with friends regardless of their preferred platform.

All in all, Endless Ragnarok feels like a whole new game. It adds a massive expansion to a world that was already vast and rich with lore, character variety, and replayability. Given the fast turnaround time, it is an exceptional expansion that highlights the best parts of the base game while adding an addictive new layer to the endgame grind. With a 28-character roster, a roguelike game mode, and powerful new summons, players are in for an absolute treat.
Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC (Steam).
