Last weekend, the battle for the title of champion was fought during the first Overwatch League finals. The showdown involved the Philadelphia Fusion and the London Spitfire. The finals involved a best of three rounds with each round have five maps each. With that many maps and rounds, it looked like the finals was going to be a long and grand event.
Unfortunately, it seemed like things were cleared up quite neatly. The London Spitfire took the first round with a 3-1 lead on Saturday and then cleaned up the Philadelphia Fusion with a 3-0 sweep on Sunday. The third round wasn’t played as the London Spitfire had won the best of three.
Although the Philadelphia Fusion seemed to put up quite a fight, they couldn’t stop the might of London Spitfire from rolling them over with each point. For winning the first Overwatch League season, the London Spitfire net themselves a cool $1,000,000 (S$1,362,800). Swee bo?
