I finally got about playing Shadow of War: Definitive Collection and I have to say, it really kicks ass. I thoroughly enjoyed playing as Talion, Galadriel and Baranor (not so much) .
Now what’s the difference between getting the normal edition and the definitive edition? Well, for the later, you get the main game with all the DLCs and free updates. there are more missions and characters as well. And ever since Warner Bros Interactive removed all microtransactions, it is definitely more worth it to get the definitive edition.
Shadow of War
It really has been a while since I played the first game so it took me awhile to get used to the controls. But slowly I got used to them. The first cut scene already, I damn blur. Shelob the big scary spider that tried to eat f**king Frodo in Lord of the Rings is actually a hot chick lah. A truly complete “WTF” moment for me. I’m not sure if that was actually part of the books but I think Tolkien wouldn’t mind cos sh’es quite hot.
Now just like the first game, Shadow of War has a lot of cool Orc Captains. Each captain has their own traits, strengths and weaknesses. It is a little bit more challenging than before so you need to think of a way to defeat the more powerful ones. The lower level ones are OK, just “hack and slash” would do the trick but the higher level ones are quite tough. And as usual the banter and conversations the Orcs have are brilliant.
The main objective is the build an army against the forces of Mordor. You need to recruit any Orc leaders that you meet along the way. And to be honest I rather have Orcs in my army than humans. Humans are boring. Orcs love talking cock and tekaning people and some of the banter is hilarious.
The large scale battles are quite messy and can be damn frustrating to target opponents. I also have the tendency to deviate from the main missions, because I don’t like to see too many icons on my map and I have to clear them. Them being the side missions and there are shit loads. It does get a little boring at times but still, it’s a fun game to play. Shadow of War is a long ass game and if you are gonna chiong all the way, you might just get damn sian of playing the game. My advice is don’t chiong. Play it whenever you can.
Blade of Galadriel
The Blade of Galadriel is quite similar to the main game. Only thing is you play Eltariel and she is a little easier to play than Talion. Why? Because she can regain health on her own and she uses the Light of Galadriel to blind orcs or explode them. She’s got some cool weapons and the boss fights are easier also. This DLC is quite a short game actually. You can definitely finish it within a day. This one you can chiong.
Desolation of Mordor
From the name of the DLC, you can tell that this one will be chialat to play. You play as Baranor and this fella got no power and a really shitty weapon. Even worse is if you get killed, you pretty much have to start all over again. You do get to keep your upgrades lah but the sian part is whatever you have done, killed or collected like hired mercs, taken outposts, collected gold or killed any Orc captains. All those will be gone. It is definitely an interesting DLC to play but there are moments when I wanted to throw my controller out of the window. Only good thing going for me is, I like to think that Baranor is a young Denzel Washington.
