In conjunction with the Final Fantasy VII Remake game launch, Watanabe Coffee located at Shaw House Orchard Road invited us to experience their Final Fantasy themed pop up cafe for a limited time only. As it was during the Covid-19 virus outbreak, the waiting time was a little longer, but we braved the plague just for this experience. Before entering, we had our temperature and contact details taken following strict regulations from the government. Demo booths were placed in front of the café, showcasing the Final Fantasy VII game trailers. The whole place was littered with standees, posters, display screens that showed the trailers on repeat.
The cafe had specially designed a Moogle Sweet Mousse dessert and a choice of one special drink that’s themed after characters Cloud & Aerith. We were also given a Final Fantasy coaster with character choice of Cloud, Aerith, Tifa, Barret, and Sephiroth; plus an iconic table mat. Which really looked pretty cool. The dessert was a Moogle-shaped cake, a macaron, and some fresh fruits on a plate. The themed drinks were different assortment of flavours topped with a Buster Sword and some edible flowers and they were both really nice.
Overall it was a fun experience amidst the pandemic that’s plaguing Singapore at the moment and we are sure looking forward to more themed pop up cafes event like that at Watanabe Cafe in the future. Hopefully when the CB period is over, Final Fantasy fans can visit the cafe and enjoy their FF themed meals.
