When I first heard of Earth Defense Force 5, the first thing I thought of was “killing giant bugs with weapons”. I was pretty much spot on sia. Earth Defense Force 5 brings a lovable joy to exploding and killing things with a simplicity that only brings good things to the game.
The premise of the game is simple. Earth is under attack. From aliens. That’s about it. It may sound boring. But it actually isn’t. You head into the game as a soldier, ready to fight to defend the Earth. If you’re looking for an in-depth story about the universe and what it means to live in it, this isn’t the game. But if you are looking for some dumb fun, this is definitely the game for you.
Earth Defense Force 5 equips you well in order to have the perfect amount of fun. There’s a total of four different classes to choose from. Ranger, Wing Diver, Air Raider and Fencer. Each class delivers something to the table to change up how you kill those pesky aliens. For example, the Wing Diver is an airborne class that has a jet pack and allows you to fly around dealing death from above. When you get tired of that, there’s the Fencer, a heavy soldier with a powered exoskeleton to really deliver the pain. With each class, Earth Defense Force 5 ensures that players will always have fun killing aliens over and over again. Shiok la.
One of the great things about Earth Defense Force 5 is the length of the campaign. Earth Defense Force 5 features a staggering 110 missions. The highest number of any Earth Defense Force game so far. You don’t have to worry about ending the game too soon. Earth Defense Force 5 provides a decent chunk of levels for your to murder your way through.
All in all, Earth Defense Force 5 is a simple game, you aim, you shoot, you kill aliens. Anyone can do one. But that’s not a bad thing. I’m playing Earth Defense Force 5 for the simple joy of killing aliens. I don’t need complicated stuff interfering with my fun. With enough variety of ways to kill aliens, more than sufficient levels to satisfy my murderous desire for alien blood, Earth Defense Force 5 is a good fun game to play when you want to switch off your brain and kill some aliens to de-stress.
