*SCAPE recently launched an esports programme called Experience and Xposure Programme (EXP2019) which helps nurture Singaporean youths between 15 to 25 years of age and provide them with opportunities to develop, grow and achieve their gaming dreams.
Since late 2017, *SCAPEesports has done market visits to a number of key esports markets, conducted focus group discussions, organized free-to-play tournaments and viewing parties. In addition, ESC Studio was opened to the public last year as well.
“EXP2019 is the first-of-its-kind in Singapore where youths can learn about esports through a holistic programme. In addition to game skills, youths can also learn about the many exciting possibilities within the industry and talented youths will be provided with green lane access to our industry partners to pursue their passion in esports. Importantly, we aim to inculcate the right values and behaviors and mitigate any negative aspects of this popular youth interest such as cyber-bullying and gaming addiction.” – *SCAPE Chairman, Mr David Chua
There are quite a few holistic programs on esports for youths which were designed with the help of industry pros. Such as, a 3D2N esports camp during the upcoming June school holidays which will focus on Mobile Legends Bang Bang (17th -19th June), FIFA (24th to 26th June) and League of Legends (27th to 29th June). There will also be introductions to what esports is about, its challenges, team bonding exercises and outdoor learning that will foster social mixing and character development.
From July to December, there will be a total of 10 workshops for each of the 3 titles, and 10 workshops on online live streaming and commentary. Workshop modules range from in-game skills and tactics, to mental management, cyber-wellness, content creation, engaging online audiences and much more. The coaches and pro gamers for EXP 2019 will be from the official program partner, Resurgence.
“Community building is at the core of esports engagement and we share *SCAPE’s goal to empower aspiring individuals to pursue their passion in esports, “ “There is great diversity in esports from talented gamers to content creators, shout-casters, analysts, event organisers and more.
