Doraemon meets Story of Seasons in this new, fresh take on farming! Japan’s adored Doraemon franchise comes to Nintendo Switch in Story of Seasons, a beloved farming simulation series lasting over 20 years. So check out my review of the game.
When you get the best farming simulator creator of all time and mixed it with one of the best selling anime, Doraemon, you get this very charming, peculiar and yet intriguing game. It starts with the familiar place of Doraemon and Nobita’s hometown with his friends that are beloved to everyone since childhood. After being swept away by a huge storm, Doraemon and all his friends got time warped into another dimension. After an hour of all the convoluted incident and tutorial which can be a bit boring, you start the game.
The motive is to get back home and you have to befriend everyone, tend to their farms, attend seasonal festivals and get back all of Doraemon’s devices.
The overall surrounding feels like a pastel painting that perfectly blends all the characters in perfectly. To go along with that, there are some very catchy orchestra tunes depending on each season and the tunes are so catchy, I was tapping my feet to it all the time while I was playing. As time progresses you tend to your crop, gather rare ores and materials and eventually upgrade your farm, your tools and bonding with the towns people.

The school harvest moon sure does bring back lots of memories. And you have only 18 hours a day, so make sure you do as much as you can. Seize the day! Mining and Fishing are important in the early part of the game. The crops come later on and talk to people daily to get to know them better cause you got to know what your neighbors like, so you can give them their fav items. For example, Harmon and the Monkey like Potato, Rem and the Rabbit like Dandelion and so on. The more often you give them the items they like, the faster you will level up your bond with them. Some even triggering cut scenes for the main story. Crops changes every season, meaning crops from Spring (Strawberries, cabbages and etc, can’t grow during summer, it’ll wither) Best is to look out for what crop suits which season. Eventually if you finish a certain goal in the game, a cut scene will trigger and slowly you will unlock Doraemon’s devices to go back home.
Overall take on the game.
It’s very engaging and it keeps you playing for long hours, especially doing the daily chores.
