Looks like we are going to have a new PlayStation console as Sony President Kenichiro Yoshida told the Financial Times that Sony is planning to release a next gen PlayStation.
“At this point, what I can say is it’s necessary to have a next-generation hardware,” – Kenichiro Yoshida
Though there have been no indication that the next console will be named “PlayStation 5”, I think there’s a high chance that that’ll be the name. Anyway the next PlayStation is not gonna be any time soon. It could be as early as 2020 or even 2021. And the next gen console will be quite similar to the PlayStation 4 and not change too drastically. This is expected because the PlayStation 4 sales have been successful and has contributed to Sony’s annual profits. According to Financial Times, Sony might also be doing a tablet that would connect to multiple devices “as online streaming of games becomes more widespread and the company seeks to derive ever greater synergies between its games and movie divisions.”
Anyway, I’m still having fun with my PlayStation 4 and I don’t really see the need to get a new one. I do hope when the time comes for PS5, my PlayStation 4 will conveniently die just in time.
